Some illnesses/infections require that your child is kept away from school for a fixed period of time and we follow the Health Protection Agency guidance on infection control in schools and other childcare settings for all illness. A copy of the document is below.
Children suffering from a gastrointestinal illness (diarrhoea and/or vomiting) MUST be kept off school for 48 hours after the symptoms have stopped to limit the spread of infection.

In their first year at school (Reception year), your child will receive a health assessment from the School Nurse that includes height and weight measurements. A Logmar vision test is carried out, and if you child is unable to complete the test a report is sent to you suggesting you take your child an optician for a sight test. Children identified by parents or school as having a possible hearing problem will be invited to attend a Hearing Test Clinic run by the School Nursing Service.

Parenting Courses - being a parent can be a tough. Buckinghamshire County Councils parenting courses gives you the chance to meet with other parents who are going through a similar thing to you as well as the opportunity to receive expert advice from a trained facilitator. Parenting courses are run for parents of children/young people of all ages and Stepping Stones Parenting Group is for parents of children with disabilities.

Active Bucks has been developed to get more Bucks families regularly active - with a particular focus on those that do no or very little exercise at all! Active Bucks has been developed following feedback from over 3500 Bucks residents and includes a wide range of activities for families and children & young people. Many activities are free or low cost including: Family Rounders; Multisports; Buggy Fitness; Bushcraft; Organised Dog Walks; Environmental Learning and Mystery Trails. There are a wide range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities so something for grandparents too. Parents can search through thousands of activities (not just those funded through Active Bucks) on www.activebucks.co.uk and register to be sent an activity voucher that allows free access to the first session for many of the activities.
