At Thornborough we believe in delivering a curriculum that is unique to us.  A curriculum that is child led through curiosity, enquiry and imagination.  We use our local surroundings but know that we are part of a wider local, national and global community.

How we do this:
Curriculum Intent - what we intend to teach our children through our bespoke curriculum.
  • To continue to deliver an inclusive  but progressive curriculum that inspires and develops knowledge
  • To ensure ‘pupil voice’ is heard and that the children are part of the planning and of their learning.
  • To ensure the learning environment reflects our curriculum
  • To review our ‘Literacy’ scheme.

Curriculum Implementation - how will we teach the curriculum?
  • To use continue to ‘spacing, retrieval and interleaving' approach
  • To focus on one main topic annually – 'Our Planet' with four sub topics of three countries
  • To facilitate our pupils in a ‘child initiated’ learning environment that is led through their independent learning.
  • To get training and accreditation in the ‘Curiosity Approach’

Curriculum Impact
-
how will the children know they are learning?
  • To continue to develop assessment, both academic and pastoral, across the school through tracking; staff training; more resources including remote access to learning platforms.
  • Continue with pupil files (Yr. 1 & 2) and Learning books (R) so children can see their learning.
  • Personal specific targets for each individual child starting with Yr. 1 & 2
  • Our teaching – by using the ‘spacing, retrieval and interleaving’ pupils will show their own progress and understanding of their learning.
