AIMS & VALUES

We believe that every child should have the best possible start to their education and should be given a wide range of opportunities and the skills to fulfill their potential.  Our school is committed to providing a challenging and stimulating environment where the success of all is important.  We believe that the small, safe and supportive environment provided by our school allows children to develop at their own pace, whilst growing in confidence and ability.  Our school allows children to be understood as individuals with individual needs.

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL?
Our school is rated by Ofsted as outstanding.  The quality of our teaching and the pupils’ progress was mentioned in particular.

The teachers and staff all share the philosophy of the school and are committed to the well-being and development of each child.  The entire school staff work with the children throughout their time at the school allowing a greater understanding of the individual and their needs.

Our teacher/pupil ratios are excellent.  Our reception pupils are nurtured in their own class that rarely exceeds 12 pupils.

Our staff are committed to the school.  All of our teachers are enormously experienced and have enjoyed observing many of their ex-pupils flourish in adulthood.

Our staff have an open door policy and parents can raise concerns or discuss their child’s progress at any time.  Parents and carers have contact with their child’s teacher every day.

The school fosters strong links between school and home.  Many of our parents and governors are actively involved in the school and with the pupils.

We place a strong emphasis on the spiritual, moral and social development of our pupils.  Our children develop a positive self-image and high self-esteem.  We encourage mutual respect and strong co-operation between pupils to ensure that every child enjoys learning in a positive and supportive environment

We provide a wide-ranging curriculum and provide the children with an extremely varied experience of the curriculum.   Amongst other things, the children have the chance to participate in many musical performances, music lessons, language lessons, sports festivals and competitions and science lessons.  We place particular emphasis on art and creative expression, and the children are proud to display the results on the walls of the school.  We strive always to provide the children with stimulating and imaginative experiences such as a formal dinner held at the National Trust property, Stowe.

Our school is an open, happy, welcoming place.  The positive experience that the children enjoy is evidenced by the number of  ex-pupils who return with fond memories to visit their favourite teachers!

OUR AIMS
All members of our school community have had the opportunity to consider and contribute to the aims and values of the school.

To treat each child as an individual, where learning is tailored for each individual to enable them to achieve their full potential.

To provide a challenging and stimulating environment with an aspirational curriculum enabling the children to develop lively, enquiring and questioning minds.

To provide a secure, happy and caring environment, where each child achieves their full potential not only academically but also socially, emotionally and physically.

To develop a lifelong love of learning and a thirst for knowledge and understanding that extends beyond the formal curriculum to the world that we live in, its peoples and cultures.

To encourage consideration, respect and tolerance towards others.

To encourage our pupils, staff, parents and governors to engage in positive, open communication with each other and the local community.
